The real estate market in the DC metro area has become more challenging and complex in recent years. Information is now widespread and market efficiencies have increased, making it increasingly difficult to find a good deal. One must be knowledgeable about how interest rates, local job growth, nearby housing developments, and many other factors affect local housing prices.

In this high risk, high reward market people are looking for realtors that they can trust. They are demanding increased professionalism and more specialized knowledge from their agents. And they are looking for nimble and aggressive agents who can quickly find and close deals in an increasingly competitive market.

I view my role as a housing consultant and financial advisor, who highlights the many risks and advantages that clients need to know to make an informed decision involving hundreds of thousands of dollars. It is my belief that real estate is still one of the best long-term value investments. The fundamentals are still in place for continued growth in the DC area market, even after the 15-30% appreciation rates of recent years. Even if home values only appreciate at a modest pace going forward, it is hard to find a better place to put your money when you take into account the incredible tax savings from mortgage interest deductions.
